Student answer (Band 5.5)

Undoubtedly, children's ability to learn different things has been changing rapidly. Some people suggest that children can learn way better when they are with same abilities students, while other people believe that they should be sitting with diverse range of abilities students so that they can improve themselves better. I believe that it should be depend on choice of students, and also I will discuss both views and give my opinion.

Firstly, many students are feel comfortable with those who has same abilities. Because they do not want to do various kind of activities to do better in class. They do everything together with happiness without any fear of failure. For instance, a study found that if a student has not fear of failure, they do better because they know everyone has same abilities. As a result, there might be chances of get better has increased.

Although, it is undeniably true that those students who are sitting with, who has representing a various range of academic abilities can perform way better. Because, firstly, they have a chance to seek knowledge about different things. This would mean that they have to tackle every problem with different students who could be more intelligent. For example, a staggering report in Japan, suggested that those student who participate in different curriculum activities are achieve more grades.

In conclusion, In my opinion, those students who are more comfortable doing same activities with the same abilities students and those who sitting with different mindset students both can perform well and can learn better, but I also believe that it should be depend on the choice of students what they want.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides an opinion, fulfilling the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'same ability' and 'diverse ability' classes are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the claim that students in same-ability classes 'do not want to do various kind of activities' is an unsupported generalization. Furthermore, the opinion provided is somewhat contradictory, suggesting that the choice should be left to the students, which is a simplistic approach to a complex educational policy question. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced reasoning and concrete examples that clearly illustrate the benefits or drawbacks of each system.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Although, it is undeniably true that' are used incorrectly at the start of a sentence, and the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'those students who are sitting with, who has representing a various range'. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the sentence structures hinder the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'same abilities students' instead of 'students of similar ability' and 'seek knowledge about different things' which is vague. Some terms are used repetitively, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that your word choices are grammatically appropriate for the context in which they are used.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('many students are feel comfortable', 'those who has representing'), incorrect verb forms ('chances of get better has increased'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered fluent or accurate. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses, before attempting more complex structures.
