Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few individuals think that children learn more when attend the classes with their friends of same study abilities. Others believe that students earn better when they studied with children representing a different range of academic abilities. I will discuss both the views in the upcoming paragraphs and as far as I am in favour with the latter notion.
To commence with the predominant one is that while students are studied with different range of abilities they are have to learn new things and diversify to adapt different types of cultures. In other words, they can adapt the things easily which will make then more confident in their studies. For instance, a survey conducted in 2024 which revealed that the result of that school who have different types of studied methods had good results as that of those who had same studies abilities. Hence, schools should have to take the initiative.
Furthermore, if the children learn with the same academic abilities then their knowledge become stuck after reached at one point which put an opposite impact on their studies. To cite an example, a headline published by the local newspaper which showed that students are less active as compare with those students who have variety of ways to studied. As a result of this, they are not able to participate in physical tasks.
To conclude this, although learning with similar academic abilities make the children reserved yet, I believe that by providing different types of study abilities we can make the children diversified which help them to make their future better.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument that mixed-ability classes help students 'adapt to different cultures' is not clearly linked to academic ability, and the supporting examples (a vague 2024 survey and a local newspaper headline) lack specific detail or logical depth. While the task is addressed, the ideas are under-developed, and the reasoning is occasionally repetitive or unclear, which limits the score to a Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with the predominant one is that' and 'To conclude this'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While the overall structure is present, the lack of sophisticated linking and the repetitive nature of the transitions prevent a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'same study abilities' instead of 'similar academic abilities' and 'make the children diversified'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the persistent errors in word formation and usage indicate a limited range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('students are studied', 'they are have to'), tense errors ('when they studied'), and awkward sentence structures. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are frequently faulty, which occasionally causes difficulty for the reader. The control over basic grammar is inconsistent, and the lack of error-free sentences prevents a higher band score.
