Student answer (Band 6.0)
Schools plays a vital role for the upbringing of any child. So, it has become highly debatable that whether all the children with same abilities should be placed in the same classroom and children with diverse academic abilities should be taught separately. This essay intends to discuss both the views. Let us ponder on it.
I completely disagree with the thought of separating children's classrooms on behalf of their learning abilities. This will certainly demotivate the average students. They may feel uncomfortable, harassed and bullied from the superior students. By which, they may ultimately break their confidence and motives in the long run. Furthermore, children influence from their peers. They always tend to follow and copy others. Thus, they gradually tend to improve their learning power, skills and hobbies by observing other classmates. Moreover, learning under one roof makes them feel valued, they constantly learn discipline, team work, problem solving skills and different methods of frequent learning and as a result they score good like their fellows.
However, others believe average student must be taught separately as they hold same level of abilities. Some average students disturb others by creating nuisance in the classrooms and pretending to be nonchalant and nonserious, which hinders the performance of the other serious students. Moving further, the children with same abilities can adjust better with each other. They know how to manage in noise and pass every year. By doing this, the serious students can focus in their studies without any interfere. Those, who have same hobbies can excel in their skills by spending time with same nature of students.
To sum up, although separating children on the basis of their level is a good option. But there should not be any partiality with any student on the basis of capacity. Therefore, all the children should be taught in the same room for their betterment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the arguments against ability grouping are reasonably well-supported, the arguments in favor of it are less sophisticated and rely on generalizations about 'nuisance' and 'non-serious' students. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as it acknowledges the benefits of grouping in the first sentence but then dismisses it in the final sentence. To reach a higher band, ensure that the discussion of both views is balanced and that the conclusion consistently reflects the position stated in the introduction.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'However', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Moving further' and 'By which'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'Those' in the third paragraph, which lacks a direct antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'nonchalant' and 'partiality', though these are not always used in the most natural context. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'upbringing of any child' (which usually refers to parenting) instead of 'education' or 'development'. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'score good' instead of 'achieve good grades'. Expanding the range of academic vocabulary and focusing on precise collocations would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors ('Schools plays', 'children influence from their peers'), incorrect preposition usage ('harassed and bullied from'), and awkward phrasing ('without any interfere'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct word forms would be highly beneficial.
