Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is widely argued that children learn better when they are placed in classes with children of similar academic abilities by contrast an amount of proportion individuals determine that children learn better when they are in classes with children representing diverse range of academic abilities. From my perspective, children should be placed with those who have the same level of abilities. This essay will tell that why it is important to keep children from the same abilities, and thats how they won't face the public pressure and societal rules for growing more then they can manage.
One of the main reasons is that placing them with these children who represent a diverse range of academic abilities will affect their natural mental growth and confidence level. It can be explained by the fact that it is indispensable that children who are in a process of learning they cannot learn extra from other diverse level children so gradually it will affect their learning. For instance, if a boy who is from 2 class and teacher put him with class 6th student consequently, that the 2nd class student will face extra pressure and will lose the ability of learning hence it will affect their mental health.
in conclusion the children who are from the same level will enjoy learning with same mentality and same method Consequently, in my opinion it is better to let them face among those who have same abilities rather than with thse who have diverse range of academic abilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on ability grouping and clearly states the writer's position in favour of same-ability classes. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For instance, the main body paragraph attempts to illustrate the negative impact of mixed-ability classes using an extreme and unrealistic example ('if a boy who is from 2 class and teacher put him with class 6th student'), which undermines the persuasiveness of the argument. Furthermore, the phrasing in the introduction regarding 'societal rules for growing more then they can manage' is vague and poorly integrated. While all parts of the task are addressed, the support lacks depth and logical consistency, placing this response at Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays basic organisational features, opening with an introduction, a body paragraph, and a brief conclusion. However, the overarching progression is weakened by a lack of proper punctuation and run-on sentences, such as the opening sentence: 'It is widely argued that children learn better when they are placed in classes with children of similar academic abilities by contrast an amount of proportion individuals determine...'. Paragraphing is underutilised, with the main body lumped into one dense paragraph. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or repetitive manner, such as the frequent reliance on 'consequently'. Overall, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of clear sentence boundaries leads to a disjointed reading experience, justifying a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally repetitive and restricted in range, featuring frequent awkward collocations and lexical errors. Examples include 'an amount of proportion individuals' instead of a proportion of individuals, and 'grow more then they can manage' instead of beyond their capacity. Words are often misused, such as 'indispensable' in a context where it does not fit the intended meaning. While the writer attempts some less common phrasing, inaccuracies in word choice and spelling ('then' instead of 'than', 'thse' instead of 'these') are noticeable. Vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, but the frequent strain caused by incorrect word forms keeps the score at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on long, convoluted, and structurally faulty complex sentences that lack necessary punctuation, resulting in run-on structures like 'For instance, if a boy who is from 2 class and teacher put him with class 6th student consequently, that the 2nd class student will face extra pressure and will lose the ability of learning hence it will affect their mental health.' Punctuation is largely absent between independent clauses, and grammatical errors regarding verb forms, articles, and prepositions are frequent. The range of structures is limited, and attempts at complexity frequently break down, causing difficulty for the reader and aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
