Student answer (Band 6.0)
Education is an essential part of our living. Every child has different capabilities in learning something new. Some people believe that teenagers will learn better if they are placed in a class with same skills and others think that they will learn better in a group with different skills.
When every child has same type of ability then they don't feel any mental pressure regarding competiton with others and they will learn better with free mind. When teenagers doesn't feel any pressure from their parents and teachers, they will learn more effectively. On the other hand, when these kids are in a class where everyone has different capability they will feel competetive. But this practice doesn't limit their way of thinking. Everyone will something new each day because when individuals have different mindset and skills then they observe it and try to learn every positive aspect from it. They will feel competetive and that leads to develop their mind efficiently.
In my opinion, when children engaged in a group with different capabilities, they will learn more and try to think something new. For example, every student in a class tries to become a monitor and after that, they will try to become head of the students. This practice helps children to think out of the box.
In conclusion, when every person has different capability, it will become a strength for a group. Each person has different mindset and ideas which also leads to more effective and efficient techniques. They all can provide ideas then decide the most effective one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on academic grouping and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally supported, such as when the student explains that similar ability classes reduce mental pressure. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat basic and repetitive, such as the repeated mention of feeling competitive. The conclusion and body paragraphs introduce valid arguments regarding mental pressure, peer learning, and diverse perspectives, fulfilling the core requirements of the prompt. This performance aligns best with the Band 6 descriptor, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some areas are under-developed or repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives and the writer's opinion. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For instance, transitional phrases are basic, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous use of pronouns when discussing groups of students. Furthermore, some sentences lack smooth logical links, leading to a slightly disjointed flow. These features correspond well to Band 6, where the overall structure is coherent despite mechanical or faulty cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying general concepts related to education, learning capabilities, and peer interaction. Less common vocabulary is attempted with some success, such as 'capabilities', 'competetive' (spelling error for competitive), and 'out of the box'. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'competetive', 'Everyone will something new' (missing verb), and awkward phrasing like 'feel with free mind'. While these errors do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.5 or Band 6 level. Band 6 is appropriate here because the vocabulary is adequate for the task despite inaccuracies in spelling and word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses, e.g., 'when these kids are in a class where everyone has different capability they will feel competetive.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding article omission ('with same skills', 'in class'), subject-verb agreement ('when teenagers doesn't feel', 'Every person has different capability'), and pluralisation ('every student... tries to become a monitor and after that, they will try'). These errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader, though they rarely impede overall communication. This performance fits the Band 5.0 to 5.5 profile; a score of 5.5 reflects the mix of structures alongside frequent errors.
