Student answer (Band 5.0)
Education plays an improtant role in developing knowledge and skills. While some people believe that children should spend learning time with children of similar academic abilities, others argue that demonstrating a wide range of learning activities are more significant. In my opinion, practical skills with same education should recieve greater attention beacaue they prepare children for everyday life.
The most proliferating advantage of learning with similar students become more independent and confident.young learners have more time to familiar and emphasize their pronunciation and vacoubalry with same kind of students in class. As a result, they can delvelop more frequently their ability as compare to other students. For instance, children who study with simlilar students may become more comfortable and accurate in their career. Therefore, similar study abilties students are more helpful for each other in the class.
On the other hand, some pitfalls negate these arguments children should learn accurate when they are in same section with showing a devese range of acadamic abilities. practical knowledge can help children become more prefctionist in their profession and achievement in different kind of skills. For example, students who want to become doctor and scientist need a strong desire and huge range in the learning sector.Hence, diverse range of acadmic abilities should not be neglected in favour of similar education ranges.
In conclusion, both similar and diverse range of activities have important benefits for children. While same kind of leaning signficant increase of students ability, I believe that schools should provide equal eduaction in classes to develop children similar education level.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on ability grouping and providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear due to confusing phrasing. For instance, the second body paragraph attempts to argue for similar-ability grouping, but phrases like 'similar study abilties students are more helpful for each other' lack precise elaboration. Similarly, the discussion on diverse abilities mentions doctors and scientists, but the link between practical knowledge and academic grouping is poorly articulated. The writer presents a clear position throughout, but the supporting arguments remain somewhat superficial and under-developed, placing this response firmly in the Band 5 category.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into four paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive ties. Transitional devices such as 'The most proliferating advantage' and 'On the other hand, some pitfalls negate these arguments' are misused or unnatural, causing mechanical cohesion. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the sentence 'some pitfalls negate these arguments children should learn accurate when they are in same section with showing a devese range', where logical relationships between ideas break down. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the body paragraphs is frequently faulty, meeting the criteria for a Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited vocabulary with frequent spelling, word choice, and word formation errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Throughout the text, there are multiple typos and non-standard forms, such as 'improtant', 'beacaue', 'recieve', 'proliferating' (used incorrectly for primary or principal), 'vacoubalry', 'simlilar', 'devese', and 'prefctionist'. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary, the high density of lexical errors and unnatural collocations such as 'similar study abilties students' restrict the range and precision. Communication is sometimes strained, aligning this response with a Band 4.5 to 5.0; giving the benefit of the doubt for task completion, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the essay. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('demonstrating a wide range of learning activities are'), missing prepositions, and faulty subordinate clauses ('children should learn accurate when they are in same section'). Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect capitalization at the start of sentences ('young learners') and comma splices. While some basic sentences are grammatically sound, the frequent errors in complex forms cause occasional difficulty for the reader and reflect a standard typical of Band 5.
