IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people believe that children learn better when they are placed in classes with children of similar academic abilities. Others believe that children learn better when they are in classes with children representing a diverse range of academic abilities.

Discuss both these views and give your opinion

Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary era, the debate of children education has become a subject of intense discourse. While some individuals advocate that students can improve their learning ability when they placed with similar education qualities in a classroom, Others content that they perform better when they combined with different range of education activities. In my opinion, although students with same background has some merit, I firmly believe that students involved with multi-academic abilities is more significant.

On the one hand, there are compelling arguments supporting the younger students with equal amount of educational background, The most prominent reason is that they can develop a strong knowledge about the particular subject. This is largely because they all can learn together by simpliflying their concerns with the teacher. For an instance, students who missed their classes can get the knowledge from their classmates. Therefore, it is understandable why some people support this perspective.

On the other hand, children with wide range of academic background presents a more convincing argument. The primary justification for this is yonger students can develop their intelligence towards various subjects because of multiple skill-set schoolmates. In contrast to the previous point, a recent study conducted by harward university professors clearly shows that, students share their classes with different academic abilities are performing better in all aspects, when compared with the children who is attending classes among same educational background classmates. Take a multi-tasking students as a clear illustration; students who is more actively participating more than one activitity are more in this type of schools. Consequently, this evidence clearly shows that the students engaged with variety range of academic skills are more active.

In conclusion, although people with same skill-set offers certain benefits, I remain convinced that students with multiple acdemic range skills are superior. This is mainly due to the fact that these people can leran and perform different types of activities with ease.
