Student answer (Band 5.5)
When the matter of children learning and abilities is discussed, there are spilt opinion where some people believe that a better learning get from the classes with children who have similar academic abilities while others advocate that learning diverse range of academic abilities. Before commenting my opinion, both the viewpoints are pen down in the ensuing paragraphs.
In my opinion children are the fast grabber so putting them into the children who have diverse range of academic abilities. It helps them to grow and finding the new skills in various domain, after this children have a huge amount of experience related the skillsets and in wide area knowledge and having the freedom of explore the new things in the particular field, children are also excited for knowing the different things.
On the other hand some layman believes that children can learn better when they are placed in the classes with children of similar academic abilities , It good but the children not able to explore the new skills for their future and having the same abilities that all students have in the classes but at the same time they have the knowledge about a skill in single field quite precise.
In conclusion, voice my preference I clearly favor the second notion over the first as it brings a lot of merits of learning point of view the demerits of learning are to die to avoid. As it brings a lot of benefits like multiple skill and enough knowledge in numerous domains.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a preference for mixed-ability classes, giving relevant reasons such as exposure to new skills and knowledge across different fields. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the benefits of similar-ability classes are briefly acknowledged as allowing students to study one skill “quite precise,” but this point is not explained or supported with an example. Your position is also confusing because you call mixed-ability learning the “second notion,” although it is presented first in the essay. To strengthen the response, explain how each classroom arrangement affects learning, support the claims with a specific example, and state your preference consistently and clearly from the introduction through the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through the discussion. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Before commenting my opinion” does not clearly introduce the essay’s organisation, and “On the other hand” signals contrast even though the preceding paragraph has already presented your preferred view. The conclusion’s reference to the “second notion” also makes the progression harder to follow. Within paragraphs, several ideas are joined in long sequences without clear relationships. Use topic sentences that identify each view, connect reasons explicitly, and ensure references such as “first” and “second” match the order of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “academic abilities,” “diverse range,” “explore,” and “domains.” These choices show an effort to discuss learning beyond basic terms. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to follow, as in “a better learning get,” “fast grabber,” “layman believes,” and “the demerits of learning are to die to avoid.” Some expressions appear to be direct translations rather than natural academic English. Spelling also affects accuracy, for example “spilt opinion.” Build a bank of natural phrases for comparing educational approaches, and check whether each word fits its context. More precise wording would make your reasons clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but complex sentences are often difficult to control, and frequent errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “there are spilt opinion where some people believe” has problems with agreement and sentence structure, while “It helps them to grow and finding” does not maintain a consistent verb form. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrectly used, as in “in the classes with children” and “related the skillsets.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly where a comma is followed by “It” in the same sentence. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when their grammatical links are clear.
