Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many are of opinion that kids learn well when they immersed with children with identical abilities, whereas others think in a reverse manner and believe that children enrolled in a class with differ academic abilities tend to perform better. However, before commenting both the view points will be discussed further.
An increasing number of an individuals opine that, when the kids are placed between the children who shares exactly the same strength can perform much better. They believe that first thing is of comfort, by saying this they claim that, it helps in sharing ideas comfortably as they know from the begining that it is going to be valued by other team members as they also have the same opinion. Other thing is, it helps to build strong bond in between classmates as they have the same subjects to learn. For example in US it has been observed that kids with identical capabilities were able to perform much better in excelling the course they all are enrolled with.
Although, having same capabilities can be a good thing for certain children, but the opponents claim that kids who has differ abilities can do well despite having odds in their curriculum. For example, many kids are good at study, but may be lacking sports qualities and that is something forcing them to go beyond their limits and workout on their incapabilities. They believe that, if a kid is not good at in some grounds he is trying to push themselves to take challenges and try to overcome and that quality brings a lot of benefits. Such as it boost their thinking, workout beyond set boundaries and it makes them confident.
In conclusion, both approach has its own benefit. However, I believe kids who has different range of abilities would be able to explore more as they are always try to give a second thought on anything they take as an opportunity to learn something in a life and thats what makes them standout in a team and in a future it helps to get leading role in future endeavours.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both views and state a clear preference for mixed-ability classes in the conclusion, so the main parts of the task are covered. The first view is supported with points about comfort, sharing ideas and building bonds, while the second includes the example of students developing weaker skills. However, some reasoning is unclear or not fully explained: the claim that classmates with the same abilities will share the same opinion does not necessarily follow, and the US example is broad rather than specific. Your opinion would be more convincing if you explained how mixed-ability learning benefits students academically, not only by encouraging them to face challenges and become confident. Develop each example and connect it directly to the learning outcomes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that returns to your position. This gives the discussion a logical progression, and signposts such as “Although” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The organisation is generally effective, with each body paragraph focused on one side. To make the flow more natural, reduce formulaic transitions such as “Other thing is” and “Such as,” and make links between claims more explicit. Some references are also unclear—for example, “that quality” could refer to several ideas in the preceding sentence. More precise linking and referencing would make the cohesion smoother and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “academic abilities,” “sharing ideas,” “challenges,” and “confident,” and you attempt less common expressions such as “overcome” and “standout.” However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “immersed with children,” “identical strength,” “excelling the course,” and “in some grounds” are not appropriate combinations. There are also spelling and word-form issues, including “begining” and “standout” used as a verb. Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than elaborate wording; for example, use “placed in classes with” and “perform well in their courses.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast clauses beginning with “Although” and “whereas,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, errors occur across sentence structures and agreement, and some complex attempts are difficult to control. Examples include “when they immersed” (missing auxiliary), “children who shares,” “kids who has,” and “both approach has.” The sentence beginning “if a kid is not good at…” also shifts from “a kid” to “themselves,” creating inconsistent reference. Review subject–verb agreement, verb forms and pronoun consistency, and check sentence boundaries and punctuation. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
