Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, there is a common debate among people about children's learning environment. Some people argue that if children are placed with the children of same intellectual capability, it can improve their learning outcomes significantly due to more focus on their specific needs. While others say that, by keeping them with children of diverse range of academic abilities, we can give them opportunities to learn not only theoratical knowledge, but practical and social as well.

On one hand, the proponents of keeping the children with thier peers of comparable intellectual capabilities, often argue that it can provide them with the education according to their needs, for instance teachers can teach them concepts according to their level.Hence, saving their time. Moreover, due to increased competition, they work more diligenrly to keep up with their peers.Which can ultimately give better acedemic results.

On other hands, it is said that education is only not only limited to bookish knowlege only. Children should also learn about how different people behave

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You introduce both positions: grouping children by similar ability may allow teaching to match their needs, while mixed-ability classes may support practical and social learning. However, the response addresses the task only partially. The second view is cut off after “Children should also learn about how different people behave,” and there is no explanation of how mixed-ability classes achieve this or any relevant example. Your own opinion is also not stated, so the reader cannot tell which approach you support. The response is 88 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop the discussion. To improve, complete both sides, state your position clearly, and support each main point with a specific reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the opening introduces the debate, and “On one hand” and “On other hands” signal the two perspectives. This gives the reader a basic framework. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph ends mid-idea, and the essay has no concluding paragraph to bring the discussion together or restate your view. Some links are also awkward or incomplete: “Hence, saving their time” is a fragment, while “Which can ultimately give better academic results” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. Use complete sentences, develop each paragraph around one clear point, and add a conclusion. More precise transitions and clear references between ideas would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some topic-specific vocabulary, including “learning outcomes,” “intellectual capability,” “specific needs,” and “academic results,” which helps communicate the subject. There is also an effort to express distinctions between theoretical, practical, and social learning. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, as in “theoratical,” “diligenrly,” “acedemic,” and “knowlege.” Some phrases are unnatural or repetitive, such as “children of diverse range” and “education is only not only limited to bookish knowledge only.” These choices sometimes make the message less clear, although the main ideas remain understandable. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations, such as “a diverse range of abilities” and “academic performance,” then use them accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt complex sentence forms, particularly in the opening, where you contrast the two views using “if” and “while.” However, control is uneven, and several sentences are incomplete or awkwardly joined. “Hence, saving their time” and “Which can ultimately give better academic results” are fragments rather than complete sentences. The opening also runs several clauses together without adequate punctuation, and “On other hands” has an incorrect article and plural pattern. The phrase “education is only not only limited” shows difficulty controlling the structure of a negative construction. Aim to write complete sentences with clear clause boundaries, and check articles, conjunctions, and punctuation. A wider range of structures will be more effective when each is accurately formed.
