Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some indviduals think that younsters grasp better while studying with same group of children with similar academic performance. However, others argue that kids learn better when they are with different mindset of young children. So, this essay will not only discuss both views but my opinion will also be highlighted while concluding this.
To begin with people who feel that children acquire knowledge better with different aspects of youngsters. Sharing various ideas with dissimlar children assist them to gain more knowlede and enhance creativity. For example, students who move to abroad for study. Their communication skills got improved by doing conversation with different students from another nation. As a result, helps them in the career and can develop more skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both views and give a personal position, especially in the conclusion that “it is important to maintain a balance.” The discussion is relevant, but the position is not fully clear: the introduction promises an opinion, while the body does not explain what a balanced approach would involve or why you prefer it. The points about sharing ideas and avoiding discrimination are plausible, but they remain general. The example about students studying abroad concerns communication across nationalities rather than directly showing how mixed-ability classes improve learning; the reference to a KPU article is also not explained enough to support the claim. Develop each view with a clearer classroom-based example and explain your opinion more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the point about studying abroad moves from communication skills to career benefits without clearly connecting these outcomes to mixed-ability classes. The phrase “every coin has 2 sides” also interrupts the argument rather than clarifying your position. Some linking expressions are mechanical, and references such as “it” in “It effects on them” are unclear. Use more explicit links between each claim, explanation, and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “academic performance,” “creativity,” “discrimination,” and “communication skills.” These choices show an attempt to discuss learning and its effects. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “indviduals,” “dissimlar,” “knowlede,” and “negtively.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “different mindset of young children” and “similar kind of kids” do not clearly express differences in academic ability. Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. Replacing vague expressions with terms such as “mixed-ability classes” and “academic confidence” would make your ideas clearer and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Sharing various ideas with dissimlar children assist them…” and the contrast introduced by “However.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Sharing various ideas … assist them” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Their communication skills got improved” uses an awkward verb form. “As a result, helps them in the career” is an incomplete sentence, and “pupils feels” has incorrect agreement. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and verb forms before adding more complex clauses.
