Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important patterns: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises markedly, amateur dramatics declines, and martial arts fluctuates. However, the account is only partial and some details are inaccurate or unclear. Film club does not stay the same throughout: it falls from about 64 to 60 before rising to 66. Table tennis begins at about 16, not 18, and reaches roughly 54; amateur dramatics starts near 26 and falls to 6. The overview mentions only the leading activity, rather than summarising the contrasting trends. The response is also 144 words, below the required 150, so it needs a little more relevant detail and comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, two paragraphs describing trends, and a brief overall statement. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and words such as “however” and “moreover” attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, progression is not always clear: the first paragraph groups several activities without a consistent comparison, while the final overview repeats only that film club was highest. Some linking words are used awkwardly or without a clear contrast, and punctuation around dates and sentence boundaries is inconsistent. Organise the body by contrasting the main rises and falls, and use clear time references to guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “decreased,” “increased,” and “fluctuated,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the table tennis participated value” is not a natural way to describe the number of participants, and “people had more interested” does not express the intended comparison correctly. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “austriala,” “betwween,” “dramatices,” and “higest.” Use precise chart language such as “the number of participants in table tennis” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts a few longer sentences with time clauses, but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence structure and agreement, as in “The line graph illustrate,” and in verb forms, as in “people were not participated.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misplaced: “between period 2000 to 2020” needs a more accurate time expression. Several sentences lack a clear grammatical connection, including “The data given in numbers.” These frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer comparisons using structures such as “while” and “whereas.”
