Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the activities and report several relevant features, including film club’s high participation, table tennis’s rise, and the decline in amateur dramatics. These are useful observations, but the response only partially summarises the graph: the overview is vague (“there are many individuals”) and does not clearly compare the main trends across the period. Some details are inaccurate or unclear. For example, table tennis and amateur dramatics did not both increase in 2005: table tennis rose, while dramatics edged up slightly from 26 to 28; in 2010, their figures were not the same (20 and 20, respectively, so this comparison is correct, but the wording is unclear). Film club did not remain constant throughout; it dipped before rising. Select the clearest overall trends and support them with accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, a body paragraph arranged broadly by year, and a concluding paragraph, so there is some organisation. However, progression is difficult to follow because the account moves between activities and years without a consistent comparison structure. The repeated phrase “As the years pass on” and frequent use of “While” make connections feel mechanical, while the sentence beginning “In 2000…” contains a fragment-like transition (“While in dramas…”). Some references are also unclear, such as “they are at same rate” and “remain constant throughout the years.” Group the information by trend—for example, rising, falling, and relatively stable activities—and use clear links between comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “participation,” “increases,” and “decrease,” and the activity names help keep the response on topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a graph. Phrases such as “humanbeings performed,” “above 10 persons take part in,” and “massive change…take place” do not express the data naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors in “perfomed,” “martail,” “perons,” and “contant.” Aim for concise reporting language and use verbs such as “stood at,” “rose,” “fell,” and “remained relatively stable.” Check spelling carefully, especially for the activity labels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentences and uses time references, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors are frequent enough to make parts difficult to interpret. Examples include “The graph below give” (subject–verb agreement), “In 2010 the musical performances above 10 perons take part in” (missing a clear subject and incorrect verb construction), and “film club activities remains same” (agreement and missing article). Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “take part in. the highest rate…” and the run-on sequence beginning “As the years pass on in 2015.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using “whereas” or “while,” checking agreement, articles, and punctuation.
