Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You provide a clear overview of the main patterns: the film club remains the most popular activity, musical performances begin at zero and rise, and amateur dramatics declines overall. Most figures and comparisons are grounded in the graph, including the broadly stable martial-arts numbers and table tennis’s strong growth. However, a few details are inaccurate: amateur dramatics peaks at about 28 in 2005, not 30 in 2010, and table tennis reaches about 54 in 2020 rather than 65. The overview also says musical performances had the fewest participants without clarifying that this is true for most of the period, not at the end, when amateur dramatics is lower. More precise reporting of these turning points would strengthen an otherwise well-focused summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs grouping the activities. This makes the main trends easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “on the other hand,” “followed by,” and “while” help signal comparisons. The organisation is coherent, but some sentences carry several figures and changes at once, particularly the table-tennis sentence, which makes the progression less smooth. The repeated use of “started with” and “members” also makes the account feel somewhat formulaic. For a more controlled progression, group the rising and falling trends more deliberately, and use clearer references when comparing the final figures across activities.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “fluctuation,” “steady growth,” “sharp declination,” and “drastic reduction.” These choices communicate the broad patterns, though some are inaccurate or unnatural in this context: “declination” is less suitable than “decline,” and “straight jump” is not a natural collocation for a sharp increase. There are also spelling errors in “Flimclub,” “memebers,” and “Muscial,” alongside inconsistent naming such as “Musical instruments” for “Musical performances.” Repeated use of “members” and “participants” limits variety. Aim for accurate trend verbs and standard chart vocabulary, while checking spelling and using the activity labels consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while,” “followed by,” and “on the other hand.” The meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “most number of participant” has problems with the superlative construction and plural agreement, while “remained with almost the same number … over 2 decade” has awkward article and number patterns. The sentence beginning “Table tennis on the other hand started…” joins two independent clauses with a comma, and capitalisation after “In 2010” is inconsistent. Use more accurate noun phrases, check singular and plural forms, and separate or properly connect clauses. These corrections would make the varied sentence structures more controlled.
