Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main patterns: the film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises substantially, and amateur dramatics declines. Most figures you mention are broadly consistent with the graph, including the film club’s rise from about 64 to 66 and amateur dramatics’ fall from roughly 28 to 7 after 2005. However, the overview says amateur dramatics was the “only one” to decline, overlooking the small fluctuations in martial arts and the initial fall in film-club participation. The musical-performances figure is also inaccurate: it reaches about 18 in 2020, not 16. The response covers the task, but some comparisons and trends are less fully or precisely reported. A more complete overview and accurate endpoint figures would strengthen it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the activities. This gives the reader a clear general route through the information, and contrasts such as “while Amateur dramatics had a sharp decline” help connect trends. However, the grouping of activities is not always easy to follow: musical performances is added to the martial-arts sentence, while table tennis and amateur dramatics are discussed separately, without a clear organising principle. Some linking words are also awkwardly placed or capitalised, as in “after that” and “While,” and several long sentences join multiple trends with commas. Grouping the rising, falling, and relatively stable series more deliberately, and using clearer sentence boundaries, would make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of trend vocabulary, including “fluctuating,” “significant increase,” “huge surge,” and “sharp decline,” so the main movements are generally understandable. Some choices are imprecise or informal for an academic report: “very famous” describes popularity rather than participant numbers, and “most amount of participants” is an unnatural collocation. “Volunteers” in the introduction is also inaccurate because the graph counts participants. There are spelling and word-form slips, including “form” for “from” and “through out” for “throughout.” Aim for precise, neutral reporting language and accurate activity labels; this would make the vocabulary more controlled while retaining the useful range of trend terms already attempted.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “after that,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “Musical performances club didn't had any participants” uses an incorrect verb form; write “did not have any participants.” In “The Martial arts had around 36 participants … it started fluctuating,” the article and reference are awkward, and “the table tennis” is not correctly formed as a subject. Several sentences are joined with commas where a full stop or semicolon would be more appropriate, such as the sentence beginning “At first, Film club…”. More consistent control of articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries would improve accuracy.
