Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall patterns accurately: film club remains the most popular activity, table tennis rises strongly, and amateur dramatics declines. The response also includes relevant figures, such as table tennis reaching about 55 participants and amateur dramatics falling to around 5–6 by 2020. This gives the report a clear overview and covers the main series. Some details are less fully or precisely reported: film club is described as “60 to 65” rather than showing its slight dip and later recovery, and musical performances are said to reach 15, although the chart indicates about 18. The claim that table tennis became the highest is not supported; film club remained higher. More accurate comparisons and a fuller account of the smaller changes would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The broad progression from the leading and declining activities to the rising series is sensible, and phrases such as “Overall” and “To begin with” help signal stages in the report. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “To follow that” and “Lastly” do not always show the relationship between the data, while “and which” makes the opening body sentence difficult to follow. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly the table-tennis description, and missing spaces after full stops weaken readability. Grouping series by trend and using clearer sentence boundaries would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuated,” “decreased,” and “rose dramatically,” so the main trends are generally understandable. There are also attempts to vary wording rather than repeat one verb throughout. However, spelling errors such as “flim,” “indivduals,” “signifacantly,” and “simmilar” are noticeable, and some expressions are not natural for describing a line graph: “had the highest participants,” “people who played table tennis was increased,” and “music performances” are awkward or imprecise. “Proportion” is also unsuitable when the graph gives numbers of people. Aim for accurate collocations such as “the number of participants,” “rose to,” and “fell to,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses with “while,” “which,” and “after,” but control is uneven. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in examples such as “table tennis was increased,” “this number was rose,” and “Individuals who participants … was.” The phrase “film club … and which was remain” also combines structures incorrectly. Articles and sentence boundaries need attention: “in year 2020” should be “in 2020,” and several sentences run together without spaces after full stops. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended trends can usually be understood. Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns, then add subordinate clauses once the basic sentence is secure.
