Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response provides an overview and selects some key features, such as the popularity of the film club and the decline of amateur dramatics. However, the report is somewhat disjointed and lacks a clear, analytical approach to the data. Several trends are described vaguely, such as 'Martial art remained fluctuate', and the comparison between activities is not fully developed. While the main features are identified, the lack of precise data points and the somewhat confusing structure mean that the information is not presented as clearly as it could be. To improve, ensure that all key trends are supported by specific data from the graph and that comparisons are made more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'However, it was vice versa in case of Amateur dramatics' and the misuse of 'Whereas' at the start of sentences. The logical progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by these awkward transitions and some unclear referencing. While the paragraphing is present, the internal flow within paragraphs needs to be smoother to achieve a higher band score. Using a wider variety of linking words more naturally would significantly improve the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'figure of participants' and 'no any players' are non-standard. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'remained fluctuate' instead of 'fluctuated' or 'showed fluctuations'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the range is limited, and there are noticeable errors in collocation that occasionally make the text sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'experienced a gradual increase' or 'remained relatively stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the year of 2000'), subject-verb agreement ('it reach to'), and sentence fragments ('Whereas, it showed a slow growth'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that complex sentences are formed correctly without missing auxiliary verbs or incorrect prepositions.
