The line graph illustrates the number of people participating in five different activities (film club, martial arts, amateur dramatics, table tennis and musical performance) at a social centre in Melbourne, Australia between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, the film club contained the largest number of participants over the period. Furthermore, the majority of the activities (the film club, table tennis and musical performances) experienced an upward trend whereas only amature dramatics experienced a downward trend, over the period. Despite fluctuations throughout the period, the martial arts activity had approximately the same number of participants across the two decades.

The majority if the participants consistantly enrolled in the film club, starting with around 64 participants in 2000 and ending with about 66 participants even though this figure fell slightly to 60 in 2010. An adequate number of people enrolled in martial arts, which peaked with around 46 participants in 2010 and fell to about 32 participants in 2005 however approximately 35 people enrolled in both 2000 and 2020.

The largest growth in the number of participants an activity was experienced in table tennis, despite starting in 2000 with only about 16 people it experienced a dramatic jump from 2010 with 20 participants to just over 50 participants. The tabke tennis activity surpassed the amateur dramatics in 2010 which steadily declined in the number of participants from 2005 with slightly below 30 to around 5 in 2020.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response effectively covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main trends and provided relevant comparisons, such as noting the contrast between the growth in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. The overview is clear and highlights the key features of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with maximum precision; for instance, the description of martial arts is slightly confusing regarding the specific years and figures. Overall, you have successfully selected and reported the main features as requested.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'whereas', and 'despite' to link ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related information. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the general overview to specific details about the activities. To improve, ensure that referencing is always precise; for example, in the third paragraph, the flow could be smoother by avoiding repetitive sentence structures when introducing the data for each activity.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with some precision, using terms like 'upward trend', 'fluctuations', and 'surpassed'. There are a few minor spelling errors, such as 'amature' (amateur) and 'tabke' (table), and some minor word choice issues, such as 'contained' instead of 'attracted' or 'had'. However, these errors do not impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more varied collocations related to data description, such as 'witnessed a significant surge' or 'remained relatively stable'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'The majority if the participants consistantly enrolled' (in/consistently) and 'the number of participants an activity' (missing 'in'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout. To improve, focus on proofreading for small prepositions and subject-verb agreement. Your control of complex structures, such as the use of concessive clauses ('even though', 'despite'), is a strength that helps elevate the quality of your writing.
