Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by identifying some main features, such as the trends for table tennis and amateur dramatics. However, the overview is somewhat limited and lacks a clear, comprehensive summary of the most significant trends. Some data points are described with inaccuracies, such as stating the film club 'remained the same' when the graph shows fluctuations, and the description of martial arts is slightly confusing. To improve, ensure that you clearly distinguish between the overall trends and the specific data points, and verify that your descriptions accurately reflect the visual information provided in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as 'Turning to, amateur dramatics'. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition between different activities feels abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would help to improve the flow and logical progression of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'differenr', 'activites', 'Autralia', and 'unitl', which detract from the overall quality. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, there is a lack of precision in describing trends; for example, using 'steady raise' instead of 'steady rise'. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and ensure careful proofreading to eliminate spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'film club which was remain same' and 'people start taking part'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which occasionally hinders the clarity of the sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
