Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for each activity. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the growth in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurate; for example, you mentioned the film club reached 70, but the graph shows it ending at 60. Additionally, ensure you distinguish between 'social centre' and 'social media center' as the latter is a misinterpretation of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific activities. The progression of ideas is generally clear. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'later it experienced' or 'then had massive growth' could be improved with more varied linking words or transition phrases to enhance the flow between sentences. Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother to better connect the summary to the detailed data.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'steep decline', and 'steady increase'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'joiners' instead of 'participants' or 'members', and 'doped' instead of 'dropped'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary is appropriate for a formal report. Avoid informal phrasing like 'at top' and aim for more precise descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the number of', 'the year 2000') and subject-verb agreement ('number of participants fluctuated'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'Musical performance had no participants at all till the year 2005 then it recorded steady increase'. Improving your control over articles and prepositions, as well as ensuring consistent verb tenses when describing past trends, will help you achieve a higher score. The punctuation is generally functional.
