Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the overall trends and specific data points. You successfully identified the main trends for each activity, such as the film club's dominance and the growth of table tennis. However, the description of the data is occasionally imprecise, such as stating amateur dramatics had a 'sudden growth' of 32% without clearly contextualizing the timeline or the specific figures. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons between categories are more explicit and that the data points are reported with greater accuracy to avoid minor misinterpretations of the graph's timeline.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'conversely', 'however', and 'after that' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the connection between the years and the percentages could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related information, which helps the reader follow the progression of the data. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'downward trend', 'upward trend', and 'proportion'. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'began at minimal point' and 'stood at 35%, respectively', which is not used correctly in this context. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive sentence structures will help improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'it followed a downward trend' (which is a fragment when preceded by 'while') and 'in next years'. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'at high point' instead of 'at a high point'. These errors are frequent but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
