Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points for the activities. The overview clearly contrasts the rising trend of table tennis with the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the report is slightly unbalanced; while you provide specific figures for most activities, the description of musical performances is vague ('more than 15 individuals'), and the film club data is described as 'stable' without mentioning the specific figure (65). To reach a higher band, ensure all key features are supported by precise data from the graph and avoid vague quantifiers. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Similarly', 'Additionally', and 'However' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Moving on to other category' (which should be 'the other category') and 'through out the end of years'. Paragraphing is used effectively to group the activities. To improve, focus on varying your cohesive devices and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the next years') is more precise and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant rise', 'sharp surge', and 'constant'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as '36 person' (should be 'people'), 'as same as' (should be 'the same as'), and 'in next upcoming years' (redundant). While you attempt to use descriptive language, some phrasing is slightly repetitive or unnatural. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and adverbs would help you achieve a more sophisticated tone suitable for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the number of participants of table tennis', 'in amateur dramatics') and prepositions ('in next years', 'in 2020 activity'). Some sentences are slightly fragmented or lack necessary articles, which occasionally impacts the flow. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
