Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the task. While you have identified the main features, such as the popularity of the film club and the trends for table tennis and amateur dramatics, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have provided some data points, but the lack of length prevents a full, detailed comparison of all activities. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and include more specific data comparisons across the entire period to fully address the prompt requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, and the paragraphing is slightly disjointed. The final paragraph contains a sentence that seems tacked on ('it stood at 25 participants at the beginning'), which disrupts the flow. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that supporting details are integrated smoothly rather than added as afterthoughts.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'rose', and 'went down rapidly'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as referring to 'amateur' as a noun when you likely meant 'amateur dramatics'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for trends and ensure you use the correct terminology for the activities mentioned in the graph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'The line graphs illustrates' (subject-verb agreement) and 'amateur had the biggest decrease' (missing noun). Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'it stood at 25' starting with a lowercase letter. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent sentence structure will help improve your score in this area.
