Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The response effectively addresses the task by identifying the main trends and providing relevant comparisons. You have clearly highlighted the dominant position of the Film club and the contrasting trends of the other activities, such as the growth in Table Tennis and the decline in Amateur dramatics. The overview is clear and sets the tone for the rest of the report. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points mentioned are accurate; for instance, ensure the distinction between 'stepped increase' and actual data trends is precise. Overall, the information is well-selected and covers all key features of the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.5

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, a concise overview, and two body paragraphs that group the information effectively. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Regarding', 'Although', 'Additionally', and 'However' helps to guide the reader through the data. The progression of ideas is smooth, moving from the most prominent activity to the others. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different categories of activities. The flow is natural, and the relationship between the different activities is clearly established throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'consistently recorded', 'plummeting', and 'stepped increase' to describe the data trends. There are a few minor spelling errors, such as 'Amateur dramtics' and 'plummenting', which are minor slips rather than systematic issues. The vocabulary is generally precise and appropriate for an academic report. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'participation' or 'activities' to avoid repetition, although the current range is sufficient to convey the information clearly and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 8.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most sentences are error-free, and the grammar is generally accurate. There are occasional minor slips, such as 'fewer than 10 participant' (should be plural 'participants') and 'in year 2010' (usually 'in 2010'). However, these errors do not impede communication. The control over punctuation and sentence structure is strong, allowing for a clear and professional presentation of the data. The use of complex structures, such as the 'While...' and 'Although...' clauses, adds variety to the writing.
