Overall, it is clear that the Film club has remained the highest number of participants over the 20 year period. Meanwhile the Amateur dramatics became the least popular club in the year 2020.

The Film club participants dipped slightly in the first 10 years; the number of participants rose back to 65 in the year 2020.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully identified the main features and trends of the graph. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the chart. However, your description of the data is occasionally imprecise. For example, stating that Martial arts 'adjusted to a 45 members' is slightly awkward, and describing the Film club as having 'remained the highest number' is grammatically incorrect (it should be 'remained the most popular'). To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with greater precision and that you consistently compare the activities rather than just listing them individually.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'Similarly', and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more balanced. The transition between the description of the Martial arts and Table tennis is a bit abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'dipped', and 'climbed up'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For instance, 'remained the highest number of participants' is not standard English; it would be better to say 'maintained the highest number of participants'. Additionally, 'turned into more than 50' is an unnatural way to describe numerical growth. Focusing on more precise collocations related to data description will help you demonstrate a more flexible and accurate range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'The Film club has remained the highest number' (missing a verb or using the wrong structure) and 'adjusted to a 45 members' (incorrect article usage). There are also minor punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary comma after 'illustrates' in the first sentence. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles with numerical data. Your control of grammar is generally sufficient for communication but lacks the consistency required for a higher band.
