Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for each activity. You successfully identified the film club as the most popular and noted the significant growth in table tennis participation. However, the overview is slightly flawed; stating that film club numbers were 'maximum than the other groups' is grammatically awkward and lacks precision. Additionally, some data points, such as the specific figures for martial arts, could be more clearly integrated into the comparison. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing individual movements, and ensure all data points are accurately reported.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific activities. You use transition signals like 'To begin with' and 'Further' to guide the reader. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'Explaining further' is not the most natural way to introduce a new point. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'their numbers') is always clear will help improve the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'diminished,' 'fluctuated,' and 'dramatically.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'maximum than the other groups' (should be 'higher than') and 'remained constant to 16' (should be 'remained constant at 16'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on learning common collocations used in data description, such as 'remained stable at' or 'reached a peak of.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'there were no participant' (should be 'participants') and 'this figures enhanced' (should be 'these figures increased'). Additionally, the phrase 'the numbers of participants in martial arts were fluctuated' is incorrect; it should be 'fluctuated' (active voice). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To move to a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive versus active voice when describing data trends.
