Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the graph and makes relevant comparisons. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the introduction: the student incorrectly identifies Melbourne and Australia as two different countries, which misinterprets the prompt. While the overview is clear, the report is incomplete as it cuts off abruptly at the end ('Finally musical pe'), failing to describe the final category. This omission prevents a full summary of the data, which limits the score. To improve, ensure all data points are addressed and that the context provided in the prompt is accurately reflected without adding external misconceptions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'By contrast'. However, the flow is interrupted by the incomplete final sentence, which leaves the reader hanging. The referencing is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of some transitions could be improved for better flow. The paragraphing is appropriate for a report of this nature, but the lack of a conclusion or a complete final point impacts the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'fluctuations', 'steadily', and 'proportion' used correctly. However, there are some word-choice errors, such as 'the information that how many numbers' and 'seen continuously fluctuations', which are grammatically awkward. The spelling error 'inn' for 'in' is minor. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main trends, but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the information that how many numbers', 'reached at 67', and 'stood 37'. The sentence structure is often clunky, and the abrupt ending indicates a lack of control over the final production. While the meaning is generally clear despite these errors, the frequency of slips in basic grammar and preposition usage prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct prepositional phrases would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
