Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the popularity of the film club and the significant growth of table tennis. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting; for example, stating 'film club stood at 64' lacks context regarding the unit of measurement, and some descriptions of trends are vague (e.g., 'fined least concentration'). To improve, ensure you provide a clearer overview and more accurate data points to support your comparisons, as some figures mentioned are difficult to verify against the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'While', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The transition between the overview and the specific details could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'the former') is used to avoid repeating the names of activities too frequently.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'experienced a slight decline', 'significantly rise', and 'fluctuated'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'fined least concentration' instead of 'received the least attention' or 'fined least favor'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word form, such as 'popular activity' missing an article. To improve, focus on learning common collocations used in data description and ensure you use precise terminology for trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The line graph provide', 'film club... rise') and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly disjointed. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses when describing past data and ensure subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout your writing.
