Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task. You have identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your descriptions. The overview is clear, highlighting the film club's dominance and the significant growth in table tennis. To reach a higher band, ensure you make more explicit comparisons between the categories rather than just listing data for each one individually. For example, noting that table tennis overtook amateur dramatics by 2015 would provide a more analytical approach to the data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the data, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'In 2000', and 'but after that', to link ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect sentences more fluidly. Currently, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'increased', 'decreased', 'rose slightly', and 'steadily' appropriately to describe trends. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to avoid repetition. For instance, instead of saying 'increased a lot', you could use 'experienced a substantial surge'. You also have a good grasp of topic-specific vocabulary related to the graph, which helps maintain the focus of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most of your sentences are clear and error-free, which ensures that communication is never impeded. You show good control over past tense verbs, which is essential for describing historical data. While your grammar is generally accurate, you could aim for more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or participle phrases, to demonstrate a wider grammatical range. There are no significant errors that distract the reader.
