Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the task. While you have identified some main features, the report is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To achieve a higher band, you must provide a more comprehensive overview and ensure all data trends are fully described. The lack of completion means that the task is only partially addressed, as the final data points and comparisons are missing. You should aim to write at least 150 words to ensure all aspects of the graph are covered in sufficient detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organised into an introduction and an overview, but the lack of a full body paragraph structure makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly' and 'although', but they are sometimes used incorrectly, such as 'although' being placed at the start of a sentence without a following clause. Paragraphing is also insufficient due to the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, ensure that each main feature is presented in a logical, well-connected paragraph with clear transitions between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are some errors in word choice, such as 'material arts' instead of 'martial arts' and 'involves' instead of 'involved'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors like 'small dip' or 'large amount'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained relatively stable', or 'experienced a marginal decline'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'film club was remained higher' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'the film club remained higher'. There are also issues with sentence structure, such as the incomplete sentence at the end of the text. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that sentences are complete and punctuated correctly before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
