Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the overall trend and specific data points for the categories. You successfully identified the dominant category (film club) and noted the changes over time. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, relying heavily on listing figures rather than synthesizing the data into meaningful comparisons. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping trends (e.g., categories that increased vs. those that fluctuated) rather than describing each category in isolation. The overview is present but could be more analytical regarding the overall shifts in popularity across the twenty-year period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'In the year 2000', and 'Furthermore' to link sentences. However, some transitions are slightly repetitive or mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied cohesive markers to show contrast or similarity more effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate for a task of this nature, helping the reader follow the information easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'depicts', 'dominates', and 'significant decrease'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Material arts' (should be 'Martial arts') and 'not appeared' (should be 'did not appear'). Additionally, phrases like 'rose up to' are slightly informal. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend', and ensure correct spelling of technical terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the number of people'), verb tense consistency ('was a increase'), and preposition usage ('participated in 2010'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'musical performance was not appeared in 2000'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
