Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all the activities presented in the graph and provides a clear overview of the main trends. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, the student describes the trends using vague terms like 'average ratio' or 'standard norm' rather than accurately interpreting the numerical data provided. While the main features are identified, the comparison between activities is limited, and the use of 'ratio' to describe raw numbers is technically inaccurate. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on precise data reporting and ensure that the terminology used to describe the graph is accurate and professional.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. Cohesive devices such as 'Whereas', 'Additionally', and 'Moreover' are used to connect ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of information is generally clear, but the internal structure of the body paragraphs could be improved by grouping related trends more effectively. The referencing is mostly clear, though the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing. Overall, the response is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. The student uses terms like 'venture', 'contestants', and 'field material arts' in ways that are not entirely natural in the context of describing a social centre's activities. There are also some inaccuracies in word choice, such as using 'ratio' when referring to participant numbers. While the student attempts to use a range of vocabulary, the lack of collocation and occasional misuse of terms limits the score. More precise terminology related to data description would improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'it gradually grown' (should be 'it gradually grew'), 'participates from the field' (should be 'participants'), and punctuation issues like missing spaces after commas. The subject-verb agreement and tense usage are inconsistent throughout the text. Despite these errors, the reader can understand the intended message without significant difficulty. To improve, the student should focus on verb forms and proofreading for basic punctuation and agreement errors.
