Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is only 105 words long and ends abruptly mid-sentence. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed, and the data is not adequately summarized. While you identified some main features, such as the film club and martial arts trends, the analysis is incomplete because you did not cover all the activities shown in the graph or provide a concluding summary. To improve, you must ensure you describe all categories and provide a clear overview of the trends, ensuring the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response shows some attempt at organization, using basic cohesive devices like 'In 2000' and 'In contrast'. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present but insufficient given the lack of a full analysis. The flow of ideas is hindered by the abrupt ending, which makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you use a wider range of linking words to connect your observations logically throughout the entire report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected for higher bands. You used terms like 'proportion', 'participated', and 'fluctuated' correctly, but there are errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'perfomances' and 'declineing'. The range is limited, and the repetition of 'recorded' and 'participation' suggests a need for more varied synonyms. To improve, focus on using more precise reporting verbs and nouns, and ensure you proofread for spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'at on social center' should be 'at a social centre', and 'was fluctuated' is an incorrect passive construction. There are also issues with tense consistency and article usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your verb tenses accurately reflect the time period described in the prompt.
