Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 87 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The summary lacks a clear overview of the trends over the 20-year period, and the description of the data is superficial. While the student identifies the highest and lowest activities, there is no attempt to describe the changes over time or provide a meaningful comparison of the data points. The response is significantly underdeveloped, which prevents it from reaching a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks a logical structure. It is presented as a single, fragmented paragraph with poor sentence construction. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the progression of information is disjointed. The referencing is unclear, and the overall arrangement of the information does not follow a standard report format. The lack of paragraphing and the disjointed nature of the sentences make the text difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'things' and 'table' (when referring to a graph). There are several spelling and punctuation errors, such as 'activites', 'lovest', and 'noteed'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends or data points effectively. There is no attempt to use academic or descriptive language appropriate for a data summary task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple, fragmented sentences. There are frequent errors in basic sentence structure, punctuation, and word order, such as 'Between this two there are 3 more things are to be noteed'. The lack of control over basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement and sentence boundaries, significantly hinders communication. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures.
