Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main features of the graph, including the upward trends for Table Tennis and Musical performances, the decline in Amateur dramatics, and the fluctuations in the Film club and Martial arts. You have included relevant data points to support your descriptions. However, the overview is slightly underdeveloped; while you mention the trends, it could be more effectively integrated as a separate paragraph or a more cohesive summary. Additionally, there are minor inaccuracies in data reporting, such as stating the Film club and Martial arts ended with the same figure when the graph shows them at different levels. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference the data points with the axes to avoid misinterpretation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response follows a logical progression, moving from an introduction and overview to specific details. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire response is presented as a single block of text, which hinders readability. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or mechanical (e.g., 'and', 'also'). To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus. The lack of paragraph breaks makes the text feel dense and less structured.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'upward trend', 'downward trend', and 'fluctuated'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors, such as 'qual by the end' (likely meant 'equal') and 'initiated with' used repeatedly. Some expressions are also non-standard, such as 'the figure of attendees surges'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and varying your verbs to describe trends, rather than relying on the same structures throughout the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('attendees was', 'their attendees was') and tense inconsistencies ('initiate' instead of 'initiated'). Punctuation is also problematic, with some sentences being run-on or missing necessary commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve your score.
