Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the dominant trend of the film club and the contrasting paths of amateur dramatics and table tennis. You successfully identified the start and end points and noted the significant growth in table tennis. However, the overview could be more analytical; while you mention the film club is dominant, you could better highlight the overall shift in popularity among the activities. The inclusion of specific data points like '51 in 2020' and '5 in 2020' demonstrates a good grasp of the data, though ensure that all comparisons are clearly linked to the overall trends to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group information by activity. The use of cohesive devices such as 'By contrast', 'Conversely', and 'In contrast to' helps guide the reader through the comparisons. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more refined to ensure a smoother flow between the general trends and the specific data points. Referencing is generally clear, but ensure that the relationship between sentences is always explicit to avoid minor jumps in logic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information clearly, using terms like 'dominant', 'substantial growth', and 'fluctuations'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'categories by' instead of 'categorized by' and 'highest sum of members' instead of 'highest number of participants'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some phrasing feels slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'remained at same value' (missing an article), 'slight a decline' (incorrect article placement), and 'members joined... from scratch' (slightly awkward phrasing). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You have a good grasp of basic structures, but you should focus on improving your control over articles, prepositions, and verb tenses to ensure greater accuracy in your writing.
