Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends for each activity. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it identifies the most popular activity but fails to capture the broader trends or significant changes across the period. The description of the data is occasionally inaccurate, such as stating that the Film club remained 'constant' when the graph shows fluctuations, and the description of Amateur dramatics is vague. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends (e.g., the growth of Table tennis) and that data points are reported with greater precision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'While, the Amateur dramatics...' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. The use of 'To start with' and 'At last' is somewhat repetitive and formulaic. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Which, almost remained constant...', where the relative pronoun is used incorrectly as a sentence fragment. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There is a reliance on informal or imprecise phrasing, such as 'folks' and 'good activity'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'displayed sudden fall' (should be 'experienced a sudden fall') and 'covered sudden rise' (should be 'showed a sharp increase'). While the range is sufficient to convey the main points, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary limits the score. Focusing on more academic reporting verbs and nouns would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect punctuation (e.g., starting sentences with 'Which' or 'By'), subject-verb agreement errors, and awkward phrasing like 'At second place, Martial arts showed 35 people at starting'. The use of articles and prepositions is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence boundaries and basic grammatical accuracy is needed.
