Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and comparing the five activities. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the 'highest number' and 'upward trend', the data points are often imprecise (e.g., 'near about 65', 'nearby 50'). To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are reported more accurately and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant differences or similarities across the entire period rather than just listing individual trends. The summary is functional but lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear overall progression. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'After analyzing', and 'Furthermore'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'At last' to introduce the final point. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the transition between sentences flows more naturally to guide the reader through the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You frequently use basic phrases like 'number of people' and 'wanted to participated'. There are also some word choice errors, such as 'tasks' instead of 'activities' and 'folks' (which is too informal for an Academic Task 1). To achieve a higher score, incorporate more precise vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'peaked', and avoid informal language. Ensure that your collocations are accurate, such as 'participate in' rather than 'participated in'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people wanted to participated'), incorrect verb forms, and missing articles. For example, 'it remained fluctuated' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'it fluctuated'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency and verb patterns.
