Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the overall trend of the film club and the growth of table tennis. However, the description is somewhat confusing due to inaccurate reporting of the data. For instance, stating that all activities were 'in order' between 2000 and 2010 is vague and does not accurately reflect the specific trends shown in the graph. The summary of the fluctuations is also difficult to follow, and the comparison between activities lacks precision. To improve, you should focus on clearly identifying the starting and ending points for each category and highlighting the most significant changes rather than attempting to describe every minor movement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs, which provides a basic structure. However, the logical flow is hindered by the lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. For example, the phrase 'Then in 2010' is used, but the subsequent sentences lack the necessary linking words to connect the trends effectively. Paragraphing is present but could be used more effectively to separate the overview from the detailed analysis of the data trends.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'peaple', 'Austrelia', 'parformances', 'werre', and 'riched'. These errors, combined with awkward phrasing like 'out came amateur dramatics', occasionally impede the reader's understanding. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'fluctuated' and 'participants', the range is narrow and lacks the precision required for a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of basic terms and expanding your repertoire of verbs and adverbs used to describe trends, such as 'surpassed', 'declined', or 'remained stable'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb forms ('film club occuped'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement errors ('Tennis table supassed'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the use of commas and spacing. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct punctuation.
