Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for the various activities. You have successfully identified the overall trend of the Film club and the significant growth of Table tennis and Musical performances. However, the report could be improved by providing more precise data points and ensuring the comparisons are more explicit. For instance, while you mention that Musical performances 'grew rapidly', adding the specific start and end values would strengthen the analysis. The overview is clear, but the description of the trends in the body paragraphs is slightly repetitive in structure. Overall, you have addressed the task requirements well by summarizing the main features and making relevant comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'on the other hand', and 'interestingly' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'In 2020, the number of attendees in Film club remained still stayed at the highest point despite the other activities' is somewhat clunky and lacks clear logical connection to the following clause. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis, which helps the reader follow the progression of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuating', 'dramatically', and 'overtaken'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'remained still stayed' (redundant) and 'since its started point' (incorrect form). Additionally, 'the most common activities' is slightly imprecise when referring to a single club. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'other experienced fluctuating trends' (should be 'others'), 'started off by the highest level' (should be 'at'), and 'until it could overtaking' (should be 'overtake'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to verb forms, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free will help improve your score in this criterion.
