Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and identifies key trends. You successfully highlight the main features, such as the popularity of Table Tennis and the late emergence of Musical Performances. However, the report lacks a clear 'overview' paragraph. While you attempt an overview at the start, it focuses on specific data points rather than the overall trends. To reach a higher band, ensure the overview paragraph synthesises the main movements across the entire period without citing specific numbers. Additionally, some data descriptions are slightly confusing, such as the claim that the Film Club figure remained constant in 2010 without clarifying the trend between 2005 and 2010.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'By contrast', 'Meanwhile', and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the second paragraph is a bit cluttered with too many specific data points, which slightly disrupts the flow of the analysis.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'rose gradually', 'significant fall', and 'remained constant' are used effectively to describe trends. There is some attempt to use less common vocabulary, though some word choices are slightly repetitive. To improve, try to vary your verbs and nouns further to avoid repeating 'number of participants' or 'people were involved' multiple times. The vocabulary is generally accurate and appropriate for the task, with no errors that impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and error-free. There are occasional minor issues, such as the phrasing 'the proportion of participants who were involved in the Film Club activity rose gradually', which could be more concise. Your control of tense is generally good, consistently using the past tense to describe the historical data. Punctuation is used correctly throughout, and the grammatical errors present do not cause any difficulty for the reader.
