Student answer (Band 7.5)

The line graph compares participation in five activities at a social centre in Melbourne, Australia, between 2000 and 2020.

Overall, the film club consistently attracted the highest number of participants throughout the period, while table tennis experienced the most significant growth. In contrast, amateur dramatics declined sharply, becoming the least popular activity by 2020.

In 2000, around 64 people attended the film club, and this figure remained relatively stable despite a slight dip to approximately 59 in 2010, before recovering to about 64 by the end of the period. Participation in martial arts fluctuated only modestly, varying between roughly 31 and 36 participants before finishing at around 33 in 2020.

Table tennis, however, showed remarkable growth. Starting at only 16 participants in 2000, the figure rose gradually to 19 in 2010 before increasing dramatically to approximately 51 by 2020. Conversely, amateur dramatics fell steadily from about 25 participants to just 3 over the same period. Musical performances had no participants until 2005, after which numbers climbed steadily, reaching around 16 by 2020.
