Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all activities. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the growth in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting; for example, you describe musical performances reaching 'just under a quarter' by 2020, which is unclear and does not accurately reflect the data point of approximately 45. Additionally, the overview is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited with greater precision and that the overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the overall trends rather than just listing specific movements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'By contrast' and 'Finally', to link your points. However, the use of punctuation is inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after periods (e.g., '2020.This', 'Finally it') and erratic capitalization (e.g., 'Whose', 'Followed'). These mechanical errors occasionally disrupt the flow of the text. To improve, focus on consistent paragraphing and ensure that cohesive devices are used to connect sentences more smoothly without relying on repetitive structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuations', 'substantially', and 'participation'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people participation' instead of 'people participating' or 'participation of people'. The phrase 'just under a quarter' is also confusing in this context as it does not clearly relate to the numerical value on the axis. While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the errors in word form and the occasional awkward phrasing prevent a higher score. Focus on using precise terminology for describing trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'While amateur dramatics attendance continuously dropped...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly regarding sentence boundaries and capitalization. For example, 'Overall,it can be seen' lacks a space, and 'musical performances members' is grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and missing articles. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of the writing. Increasing your attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve your score.
