Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the trends. You successfully identified the main features, such as the growth in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting; for example, you mention musical performances starting at '0' in 2005, but the graph shows a different starting point. Additionally, describing the film club numbers as 'just under a quarter' is confusing as the y-axis represents the number of participants, not a percentage. To improve, ensure that data points are read precisely from the axes and that units of measurement are used correctly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'By contrast,' 'While,' and 'Finally' to link ideas. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is slightly abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow within the second body paragraph could be improved by grouping the activities more effectively (e.g., grouping those that increased versus those that decreased). Referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the overview and the specific data points could be more seamless.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuations,' 'substantially increased,' and 'remained stable.' There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'just under a quarter,' which is not an appropriate way to describe a numerical value on a graph. You also have a few minor errors in punctuation and spacing, such as the missing space after the period in '2020.This.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, incorporating more precise academic collocations would elevate the response to a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the grammar is generally accurate, there are some errors that affect the flow, such as the capitalization error in 'While others experienced...' and the missing space after the full stop mentioned previously. There is also a slight misuse of the comma in the overview. The sentence structures are functional, but there is a lack of variety in complex grammatical forms. To reach a higher band, focus on reducing minor punctuation errors and incorporating a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater precision.
