Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all requirements of the task by identifying main trends and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the overall growth and the specific fluctuations of the activities. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you stated that Amateur Dramatics 'declined to 5 persons in 2020', but the graph shows a different figure. Additionally, the description of the Film Club's trend is slightly imprecise. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are transcribed with absolute precision and that the 'main features' are clearly distinguished from minor details.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Turning to details', 'However', and 'In comparison' helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related information. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary the cohesive devices further and ensure that the link between sentences is always natural rather than relying on standard signposting phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantial growth', 'rapid surge', and 'registered'. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'volunteering to it' (volunteering for it) and 'regained people's interest' (which is slightly informal). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and adverbs would enhance the quality of your analysis.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'from 0 participants till 2005' (until 2005) and 'resulted in 40 participants and eventually resulting in' (repetitive use of 'resulting in'). Some phrasing is slightly awkward, which occasionally impacts the flow. To improve, focus on reducing repetitive structures and ensuring correct preposition usage. The majority of your sentences are error-free, which allows for effective communication, but greater control over complex structures is needed for a higher score.
