Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all four activities. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the film club's dominance and the contrasting paths of table tennis and amateur dramatics. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting. For instance, stating 'one tenth' for musical performances is ambiguous and not supported by the graph, and the description of the film club's trend as 'recovering to their initial position' is vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited more accurately and that comparisons between categories are more explicit throughout the report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'On the other hand', and 'before' helps guide the reader through the information. However, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the use of 'their' when referring to the film club. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure is clear, which allows the reader to follow the information without significant difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'declining drastically', and 'proliferated'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'proliferated' is used incorrectly in this context (it usually refers to rapid reproduction or multiplication, not a rise in numbers), and 'nil people' is an awkward phrasing. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors such as 'cetre' and 'flucuated'. To improve, focus on using vocabulary that is more naturally suited to describing statistical trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'participants... were increased' (passive voice error), 'it was slightly drop' (tense/verb form error), and 'reached it's low' (possessive pronoun error). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences and ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement will help improve your score in this criterion.
