Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all five activities. You successfully identified the highest and lowest participants and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the rise of table tennis and the decline of amateur dramatics. However, the overview is slightly weak; while you identify the highest and lowest, it could be more comprehensive by mentioning the overall trend of growth or fluctuation across the categories. The data is generally accurate, though some figures, such as the '20' for table tennis in 2010, are slightly imprecise compared to the visual data. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that group the activities effectively. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'After', and 'Finally' to guide the reader through the data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different trends. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be improved by varying the structure of your opening phrases. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the use of pronouns or linking phrases would enhance the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'gradually increased', 'slight decrease', and 'fluctuated' to describe trends. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'participators were the lowest position' (should be 'had the lowest number of participants') and 'number of its user' (should be 'users'). While you attempt to use more precise language, some phrasing remains slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that nouns and verbs agree in number consistently throughout the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('on social centre' should be 'at a social centre') and pluralization ('number of its user' should be 'number of its users'). Additionally, there are minor issues with preposition usage and sentence construction, such as 'reached almost at same number'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would improve your score.
