Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all five categories and made relevant comparisons, such as noting the decline in amateur dramatics against the rise in table tennis. However, there are some inaccuracies in data reporting; for instance, you state the film club remained at 65% throughout the period, whereas the graph shows it starting lower and ending higher. Additionally, the description of martial arts as fluctuating 'between 20 years' is slightly imprecise. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are transcribed more accurately and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant trends without needing to list every minor detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'By contrast', 'Conversely', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions between sentences. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the second body paragraph is slightly cluttered, making it harder to follow the progression of the different categories. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main features of the graph, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'upward trend', and 'declined'. There are some instances of word-choice errors, such as 'contributors' (which is better suited for people who give money rather than participants) and 'major changes were occured' (which is grammatically incorrect). You also use 'seen' instead of 'saw' or 'experienced'. While your vocabulary is adequate for the task, you should aim to use more precise collocations and avoid repetitive structures to demonstrate a more sophisticated range of lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'major changes were occured' (passive voice error), 'the table tennis seen a sharp increases' (subject-verb agreement and article usage), and 'fluctuated a little between 20 years' (preposition error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and the proper use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
