Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including trends for the different activities. You successfully identified the most popular activity (Film club) and noted the significant changes in Table tennis and Amateur dramatics. However, the overview is somewhat weak; while you included a concluding summary, a clear overview of the main trends should ideally be placed after the introduction to better highlight the overall patterns. Additionally, some data points could be more precise, such as the description of martial arts, which is a bit vague. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task well by selecting and reporting the main features and making relevant comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Furthermore', 'In contrast', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes a bit mechanical, and there are instances where punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'all. However', '60, thereafter'), disrupt the flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent spacing would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'declining', 'rapidly', and 'drastically'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, though some phrasing is slightly repetitive or imprecise, such as 'most preferred activity out all' (should be 'of all'). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, but to reach a higher band, you should aim for more sophisticated collocations and avoid minor errors in word choice, such as 'number participants' instead of 'number of participants'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding articles (e.g., 'in the year 2002', 'in the year 2010') and missing prepositions. Punctuation is also an issue, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after full stops. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence boundary control and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
