Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all five activities. You have successfully identified the highest and lowest points and made relevant comparisons. However, the report lacks a clear structure; it is presented as a single block of text rather than distinct paragraphs for the overview and body details. While the main features are reported, the analysis of the data is somewhat mechanical, listing figures sequentially rather than grouping them logically to highlight significant trends or relationships between the activities. To improve, ensure you clearly separate your overview from the detailed data analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response suffers from a lack of paragraphing, which is essential for a clear IELTS Task 1 report. The flow of information is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic connectors like 'furthermore' and 'moreover' to link sentences. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of paragraph breaks makes the text feel dense and difficult to navigate. To reach a higher band, you must use paragraphing to separate the introduction/overview from the body paragraphs and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to link your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'dramatic fall' and 'slight increase'. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'contestants in farm club' (likely referring to 'film club') and 'zig zag trends'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'delegates' to describe club members. Spelling errors like 'climbed' instead of 'climb' also occur. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for data reporting and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for the context of a social centre.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('remain almost same'), missing articles ('in film club'), and awkward sentence construction ('last but not the least the number of participants...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack proper commas or conjunctions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
